Fourth week into my EP00 course and I do not feel like going back to office. It is busy and packed, an introductory course on the exploration and production business with intro to multidisciplines from geology, geophysics etc to surface engineering and production, all within 5 weeks. I learned a lot to say the least, gives you an overview and awareness about other things going around working together to get that black gold. If only I could go to this course before applying to shell.... then would have a better idea of whats interesting and whats not....
It has been stressful at times but fun all the time. It is the first time since I moved here that I am surrounded by people my age; most of them younger anyways making me feel like an uncle; and so glad that met new people and made new friends etc etc. Thats one of my main objective of joining this course anyways.... but worded it as networking. Shell is such a different environment from my previous companies, at BAT we had a function head who was 29 and at PwC most of the people there are fresh grads or less than 30. So it can be a huge difference in the environment and team dynamics etc etc.
Well its one more week to go and hopefully once in office I can get going with my project. It can be hard not practising engineering 3 years after graduation. Not being that good in it doesnt help either. Not having the 'passion' in this subject definitely doesnt help at all. But I am so beyond the 'passion' phase and just doing whatever that seems right.
